Gaming Now is one of my pet projects. I’m a huge gamer and have been since I was a kid. I needed a place to show my love for games and the gaming industry as a whole. Gaming Now is the place for me to do that.

This site is built upon a child theme of the “TwentyEleven” WordPress theme with some core improvements and custom built plugins.

It has custom code hooked into the WordPress core to improve the RSS feed pre-processing and some work on how it parses links adding certain “on_click” parameters to improve analytic tracking. Both of these updates to the Core code of WordPress are persistant across major Core updates.

Several custom plug-ins and services were also created or integrated into the WordPress Admin Dashboard. The default editor has many improvements including “easy of reading” tests, spell checker, suggested articles from reputable sources based upon what you are actually writing – for increased research speed and efficiency, suggested images based on what you are writing pulled from public sources – with additional licence checks on the images to see if they are reusable by you or if they require certain criteria to be met (such as linkback) and tries to automatically adhere to the requirements where possible providing output based upon the outcome telling you of any additional steps you must take.
