[HD] Dragon Age Awakening – My Level 26 Mage Build

The Mage build I used to solo the Queen of the Blackmarsh using zero health poultices and lyrium potions. The solo battle can be found here: www.youtube.com I was worried about video length so I didn’t include this in my solo video. Basically, Arcane Warrior + Blood Mage + Battlemage is just a crazy OP combination that dominates everything on Nightmare difficulty.

    lol -.- thats really easy to earn the lvl 25 in the origins… so i begin the awakening at lvl 25 :)
    and i finished the awakening at lvl 35

    i got some1 to teachme how to be a blood mage and arcane warrior but when i lvled up i still couldnt pick talesn from either, why?

    @thatguyavcam In Origins, I often played around with Blood Control since it can be both fun and useful but in Awakening, I kill everything so quickly that I never use Blood Control.

    @thatguyavcam No, Winter’s Grasp is a different spell that only hits one enemy. Winter’s Grasp is the first spell in the Cold Primal line while Hand of Winter is the second spell in the Battlemage line. Hand of Winter is far superior and essentially is an AoE Cone of Cold that freezes/harms surrounding enemies in a large radius yet doesn’t hurt your allies. Combined with Blood Wound, you can completely destroy a large group of enemies almost instantly (without worrying about friendly fire).

    @abenhorsen i think its actually called winters grasp not hand of winter. try the blood control. it helped me a lot in the original and is still useful in awakening. 3 guys attacking, and you have half health, no polutices, and all party mems ded. make one attack another and own the third one! then when its over he becomes ur enemy again and own him with all party members. ahh blood control. its awesome.

    @Limerlight Flame Weapons seems to add a lot more +damage. Anyway, I frequently ran with two or three mages on this playthrough so I’d usually have Frost, Flame, and Telekinetic Weapons all active (as well as dual Haste).

    @thatguyavcam Thanks! I actually never used Blood Control in Awakening since Blood Wound + Hand of Winter owned everything so quickly so I took that point and put it into Heal so that I could solo any boss without needing Health Poultices or allies healing me.

    Just wondering, is there really a reason as to why you use Flame Weapons, as opposed to lets say Cold Weapons?

    @abenhorsen but if i learn AW just cuse i want the armor is that a good idea? The fatigue gives 1-10 more mana cost to spells.

    Hmm I haven’t really thought of ever using a staff. I imagine you could use all the equipment shown in this video and simply replace it with the best staff you can find? Preferably one with +2 mana regen. You’ll probably also want to equip +mana regen boots and gloves too if you don’t use Cailan’s Arms since you’ll be missing out on +5 mana regen.

    Yep! Also, +stam is the same as +mana.

    Without fairly high dex, an AW is going to miss a lot on Nightmare since they have a really low attack without any points in strength/dex (and strength is useless for an AW since they use magic instead of strength). Plus, I run with dual Haste which lowers attack further making dex even more necessary. Lastly, boosting dex also boosts your defense. The combo of really high armor AND really high defense makes you almost invincible (especially when you also have max resists).

    Arcane Warriors can either use melee weapons or a staff. I prefer the Sword+Shield style since the combo I use grants +5 mana regen (which is amazing when you’re trying to use Shimmering Shield). They really aren’t boring at all. You can use the best spells AND you can tank + hack and slash so all the bases are covered.

    You get both Maric’s Blade and Cailan’s Shield from the Return to Ostagar DLC. Haha yeah AW/BM/BMs are crazy OP. Gotta admit its pretty fun just destroying everything on Nightmare though! As for the “Class name not found”, I’m not exactly sure why it says that but I guess there was a problem importing those two Warden’s Keep DLC talents into Awakening.

    hmmm 2 questions. 1st where did u get the sword( i soloed final boss on top diff with this class its op as hell hahah), 2nd wth is that “Class Name not found”?
